The Little Match Seller - Striing Trio by Brian Krinke; ft. Amelia Krinke & Laura Sewell

The Little Match Seller is based on the famous tale by Hans Christian Andersen, about a poor hungry girl, who dares not go home on Christmas Eve before selling all of her matches.

The music depicts the forlorn mood of the girl, as well as the three visions she has when striking her matches to keep warm, ultimately joining her beloved grandmother, as the final vision blurs reality in this sad Christmas tale.

The music was written for this performance Amelia Krinke, viola; Laura Sewell, cello; and the composer on violin. This world premiere performance was at the Saint Anthony Park United Church of Christ in St. Paul, MN on 1/9/2026. Special thanks to my amazing collaborators for inspiring and giving life to this music!
