July for String Quartet was written when I still lived in New York City and my daughters were young. It was like another world to have time at the beautiful Lake Tahoe in the summer, seeing the clear water, sitting on the rocks. We found a spot where they could climb on and under the rocks by the side of the lake on a sunny day, and then stay to watch the sunset, not a care in the world.
