Colorado Sketches is a set of piano pieces, each one evoking a place and moment in Colorado that was meaningful to me personally. Divide Forks Flame was inspired by a large fire we built at a campsite on a cliff, and the energy of the flames and sparks. Lakeside is more of a gentle walk, feeding ducks in the early morning. Craig Prelude is a pensive piece about a time spent at the Craig Hospital. The final number depicts collared lizards skittering over the rocks of the Colorado National Monument as I hike to Independence Monument. Special thanks to Daniel Nykamp, who is the featured performer in the audio recordings included below.
